There are endless signs and symptoms to signal that your main water line may have a clog or break and in serious need of professional attention. The lines begin to blur a bit more on whether your water line is in need of repair or replacement. You will need a Plumbing Masters plumbing expert to determine whether repair or replacement is appropriate for the condition of your water main pipe. With that said, the following are signs that your water line will require professional attention:
If there is a clog or break in your water main line, it will generally affect the water pressure in your home, causing it to decrease. When a clog or break is present, less water is able to move through the pipe, and therefore not able to make it to your fixtures such as shower heads or sinks as it normally would. Decreased water pressure is a very common sign of a broken water main.
Has your monthly water and utility bill randomly increased? If it has and you notice any of the other symptoms on this list happening with your water main, you may have a clog or break in your pipe. When there is a break in the line, it will often waste excess water, causing an unexpected increase on your monthly utility bill.
If you have wet patches or pools of vibrant grass throughout your lawn, you likely have a water main break. Patches of vibrant grass, water pools, and a foul odor from the water is an almost indisputable indication that your water main has suffered a break. In the event of this, you will need to call Plumbing Masters for expert help immediately before extensive damage is done to your home, property, and the water main line itself.
When a water main line breaks, dirt and debris can get inside of the pipe and eventually your water supply. Because water main lines are underground, a lot of potentially toxic and hazardous objects can leak into your water supply, causing you and your family to potentially fall ill. If you notice that the water from your sinks, bathtubs, and drains appears to be different in color and/or smell, you may have yourself a main water line break which will require repair or replacement!
Another sign that your water main may be in need of water main repair is odd, loud noises coming from your plumbing when it is not being used. If you notice water moving or just various plumbing noises in general throughout the middle of the night while you are sleeping and these appliances are not being used, this is an indication of an issue that will need to be resolved.
Lastly, if you notice that many of your toilets, sinks, or shower drains are constantly getting clogged no matter how much snaking or store-bought drain cleaner you use, your water line is either clogged or is broken. This can also happen if your sewer line is clogged or broken as well. Either way, you will need to call in the experts at Plumbing Masters to help resolve the problem.

We had an unexpected toilet clog that a plunger just wouldn't work on. On top of that it was the only handicap accessible toilet in the house so we needed it repaired urgently. Plumbing Masters listened to our situation and made sure that they got a tech out asap. Manny came prepared and was very professional and sensitive to the situation. He went right to work snaking the toilet and got it cleared up within minutes. It was covered under their drain special and there was no other service fees. Plumbing Masters is definitely going to be our 1st call for a plumber in the future. Thank you Manny!

To properly fix a broken main water line you will need to have a professional plumber from Plumbing Masters complete the repairs. Fixing a broken water main line consists of quickly applying epoxy to the areas of the pipe that are cracked. The epoxy will start drying within one to two minutes once applied and takes about an hour to completely harden.
Main water lines typically break due to excessive and/or uneven high water pressure. Most pipes and faucets can only handle a certain level of water pressure before they will start to leak. If you suspect that your main water line has a break or your water pressure may be too high, have a certified plumber from Plumbing Masters inspect your main water line.
The amount of time it takes to fix a main water line break depends on the size of the break, where the break is located, and what type of environment it is in. Where the break is located is the most crucial aspect. With that said, water main breaks generally take around four to eight hours to repair. If your main water line has broken, call Plumbing Masters immediately to make the proper repairs.
Yes, a water main can break. Signs that your water main may have a break include an unexplained puddle of water (usually underneath a sink or on the floor), random puddles of water in or around your yard, and/or water flooding in your street. If you notice any of these types of puddles in or around your property, call Plumbing Masters right away.
To properly locate a water main leak, you will most likely need a certified plumber from Plumbing Masters to do so. Your Plumbing Masters plumber will locate your meter and check the leak indicator to see if it is moving. If the dial is in fact moving, it is very likely that you have a water main leak.
Main water lines are typically at least three feet below ground and not apparent to the eye. Water supply lines connect your household plumbing to the local community water supply lines (or to a well in more rural areas). If you are attempting to locate where your main water line is, or you suspect you may have a break in your main water line, call Plumbing Masters to have a certified plumber dispatched to precisely locate where your main water line is.
